Essence Mousse Foundation and Mattifying Powder Review

This post covers my own Essence Soft Touch Mousse Foundation and Mattifying Compact Powder review of these products that I have tried for myself to see what they are like.

essence mousse foundation

In fact, the only new things I bought this past week were these Essence Soft Touch Mousse Foundation, Mattifying Compact Powder and the Brow Designer pencil, which is actually a repurchase.

After I put them through a full day of work, I'm ready for a mini review!

Since I already posted last year about the Brow Designer pencils by Essence, I'm going to skip that part of the makeup routine and talk about the Soft Touch Mousse Foundation.

Colour/ Shade

I picked up the 04 Matt Ivory, just because the other lighter shade had pink undertones and I was looking for something warmer to match an eventual tan. I love this shade, it turned out to be a great match.

Texture

BY FAR THE LIGHTEST FOUNDATION I HAVE EVER TRIED! Sorry for yelling but this mousse foundation surprised me in the greatest way possible, I was shocked at how light it feels, like a true mousse.

It's the easiest to blend out too, I loved it at the first touch.

Coverage

Medium, but you can build it to a full!

Finish

This gives a very clean matte finish leaving you with a doll face.

Longevity

Lasts all day, but as all of them, it does get a bit glowy after 8 hours. But in such a small amount that I didn't need to retouch it with powder all day. I can't express how pleased I am!

But now for the sad sad part...

I like to keep my cosmetics new until I photograph them for posting, so I kept my compact powder untouched until this morning. And as I was going down the stairs with all the goodies in my hands to take pictures for you babes, it fell :(

In the featured image I placed the brow designer pencil on it to hide the crack, but now it's time to show you the ugly truth!

I'll keep my review independent from the fact that I dropped it, but my heart was more shattered than this powder is because I waited for nothing.

I got the Essence Mattifying Compact Powder in 02 Soft Beige, because it was the lightest one they had in the store. I figured dark powder can be used as contour anyway!

Texture

Lightweight, very soft.

Finish

Matte.

Longevity

As mentioned before, this does get dewy at the end of the day, but not as much as you need to retouch it. I didn't even take it out of my purse.

I used the Soft Touch foundation together with the Mattifying Powder and all in all I am very pleased with my purchase.

And I am also very pleased with myself today, because I got up super early, had breakfast and took pictures before I got ready and headed out! I should be this productive every day. I should...

Oh, and here's a little friend I found in the flowers. OK, time to go look over some online store ideas for more fun things to think and write about!

Have you tried either of my recent buys, loves? What is your must have Essence product, what should I buy next?

I wish we had more of Essence products here in Toronto. It's very limited and basic products. I'd like to try this mousse :(

Have you tried any of their mascaras? My absolute favourite is the Get Big! Lashes in the waterproof version.
